|

On this old Compaq Armada 110, it has a screen described in the manual as a
14.1-inch, SXGA, CTFT (1024 × 768) display.
On all the distributions I have run, they seem to select "generic" settings such as:
| Code: | HorizSync 28.0 - 96.0 # Warning this may fry old Monitors
VertRefresh 50.0 - 75.0 # Very conservative. May flicker |
I have searched, but cannot find and specific values for TFT screens for laptops. Are they "generic" or are they like montiors and should have make/model specific vaules? |

Most distros have options like "LCD 1024x768", as does xorgconfig. The Monitor section on my laptop only has
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
ModelName "Monitor Model"
Option "DPMS" "true"
EndSection _________________ "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." (Albert Einstein) |
