| I'm a newbie to Linux and wanted to try the Mandriva limited edition of the cover of Linux Format magazine. It installed ok, and got as far as the log in.. then I'm stuck. I don't know how to access the graphic interface or desktop. help someone! This is all new to me. Is there some magic word or command that you type in to access? thanks |

Did you configure the graphical interface during installation, as highlighted in the magazine instructions? If not, on some systems, it doesn't auto-configure and you only get a text login.
Log in as root and run drakx11, which will allow you to configure your graphics card and set the desktop to start automatically. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |
