Is fc-cache supposed to take this long?

I'm installing Slackware from the LXF66 coverdisc (DVD). I've done everything exactly as the magazine tells me to. The only thing I did differently was that I chose to install the KDE internationisation package as well.

fc-cache has been sitting there for over half an hour. Is it still working or has it hung?

Was it the internationalisation package that caused fc-cache to hang/take so long?
