i reinstalled gaim but i still cant connect to msn. pppconfig finds the port my modem is on which is ttyS14.by the way its a usr56K data/fax modem model#5610b

You are surely confused here! People are talking about instant messengers and you are talking about connecting to the internet. Could you please tell us clearly what you are trying to do!

start gaim>click accounts>enter your msn account details and save>click sign on

Is that MSN Messenger or MSN Dialup, in the UK?

MSN Messenger, using gaim or kopete, is after you have established a dialup internet connection with your ISP ... whois? ...

gaim isnt working for me oi downloaded gaim1.3.1 but it says it cant find Glib2.0 which i know is installed can someone help me it would be greatly appreciated

Make sure you have the 'glib-devel' (or similarly named) package installed. What distro are you using?

ubuntu hoary 5.04 i have a pci modem a usrobitics 56k data/fax modem its a 5610b with its own controller chip otherwords it is a hardware modem i hve to keep establishing the link for the modem
