Everyone I know pronounces Troll to rhyme with mole, but I've always pronounced it to rhyme with moll (with the 'o' as in bottle (and i know if you're from west-coast Scotland they're the same sound, but think World-Service and bear with me)).
I've no idea where i got this, and i've been this way as long as i can remember.

How do you pronounce it?
Is it a regional thing?

Sure, short o in troll, like trolley, which has nothing to do with trolls. Trolly, would be an adjective describing 1sf (troll).

You must just know a lot of posh, or should that be powsh, people.

Is this also how you are supposed to pronounce 1sf (troll)?

It would have to be a good one, by the time you've defurred and gutted your troll for cooking, they're all gristle and bone.
