Hmmm, flash video for delivering BBC programs, with embedding even. Will they call it the BeebTube?

All
In my opinion, I certainly do not think that the current proposal to utilize the Adobe Flash Player 9 Web Browser plug-in alongside Open Source software is acceptable. The Adobe Flash Player 9 software application is a proprietary software application, and as such, I am very reluctant to use it on my Desktop PC because of the fact that it collects and transmits information about my Operating System and associated application software without my consent.
I am extremely disappointed in regards to the abundant list, or lack thereof of the BBC iPlayer for users of the Linux Operating System and the Apple Mac OS X Operating System. I think it's a disgrace.
I would very much be interested to know of a similar, or indeed alternative software application to that of Adobe Flash Player 9 in order to replace it as required.
