How can it be an opt-in system when it affects those hosting the web sites visited by the ISP's users? _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

Indeed. Phorm's insistence that blocking all 'spiders' in robots.txt is a suitable opt-out is completely disingenuous and completely ignored the large difference between what a webbot does to a site (merely records raw pages) and what Phorm does (records what an actual user does on a site). The two are entirely different.
Google can tell that a site sells Widgets, Phorm can tell what Widgets their visitors actually buy, giving a big advantage to competitors. _________________ Bomb #20: "Let there be light" |
