Hi all,

I am a subscriber to Linux Format and would like to announce my new website devoted to Linux.

The site is http://www.ilovelinux.co.uk

My aim is a site to promote the use of Linux and those who are curious about Linux can come and find it about it. It's not 100% finished yet but thoughts etc would be appreciated. If you think it's sh*t then please let me know that telepathically....lol

I really think we are on the verge of a massive movement to Linux!

cheers,

toe

All the links below "Installing Linux" take you to the "Installing Linux" page.

The "Installing Linux" (Ubuntu) Guide stops half way through an installation - not a good impression or message to new users. Sad

He did say it was unfinished - although, he should have put a disclaimer to that effect on the homepage.

The picture of the woman using the laptop rings a bell, do you own the copyright or is it published under a Creative Commons license? If not you probably shouldn't be using it.

Why do you insist on not installing a dual boot for Linux newbies? They are the people thatmost need the safety net of a working Windows installation. Installing for dual Windows/Linux boot is not at all difficult providing you, or the person explaining it to you, knows the correct order in which to do things.

And why limit people to Gnome or KDE? on older, slower PCs ( and newer, slower netbooks) XFCE or Fluxbox are much better options.

Mind you, ignore all of the negativity, don't let it dishearten you. All of these old cynics went through it at some time.

Bring back Cynux! Smile

No, a cynical "devil's advocate" column that used to be on the last page of LXF.
Commented on the shortcomings of the open source movement is general.

Wasn't terribly popular for some reason. Wink

You're probably thinking of Cymnux - the non-existant (as yet) Welsh Linux.

Maybe, after all London already has one called Blag (sounds best when pronounced with your best Ray Winstone impression). Smile
