Hmm, for me it has to be SuSE 10.3, but I'm yet to try 11.1 :s _________________ --

Interesting all this talk about KDE, and of course Gnome. I am not sure what desktop I use. Its called JWM, but is that the desktop, or the window manager? Anyway, it has a very limited configuration GUI, but once you get it figured, it is easy to directly edit the config files. It is very light, highly configurable, rocket ship fast, and very productive. Why would I want something like KDE?

Top launchbar autohides. Conky is not included, but again is very tiny for what it does. _________________ Trying to stay sane in a crazy world...... |

Debian Lenny rocks - hey, even I can get it to work, which is more than can be said for Ubuntu. _________________ Cheers,

I agree Linpus has done a good job. Xandros too but I really don't like Xandros.
anyway I really have a thing for distros that have "versions". the *thing* is dislike. I definitely prefer the "versionless" Gentoo. but I guess Gentoo won't qualify for best distro of the year :p _________________ KDE / Gentoo / Free Software Foundation / Linux Foundation |

That's because it's not a distro _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

According to Gentoo they are a distribution |

Elsewhere on the same site it is dewscribed as a meta-distribution, which is closer to the mark. A Linux distro is a collection of packages and an installer to put them on your hard disk. Gentoo is a set of tolls to build this, but contains very few installable packages. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |
