| But there's no competition now that President Obama has killed the US programme. |

Hi johnhudson...
Exactly my point.
If the mighty US of A can`t afford it then nobody can.
If these believers in the supernatural moonlanding(s) of
tomorrowyear expect to do it for 500,000,000 USD then
I will eat my sweaty underpants.
(Watch this space, [a pun?]... :)
And just as an adjunct takes a look at this number and
it is REAL not imaginary...

$500 million is the cost of a single shuttle mission. The USA can afford a moon mission, they just choose not to. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

The entire cost of the 12 years of the space programme up to Apollo was about the same as a single year's cost of the Vietnam War at its height (excluding the human cost). Does anything really change? _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

Nope, UK contribution to Jason3 satellite (recently agreed as our full share) £9m over 9 years. Cost of war in Afghanistan up to July 2009 ~£12bn. _________________ Bye, Rhakios |
