The .04 released every second year, starting with 6.06  , should be LTS versions. This supposedly allows users to have mostly stable releases with almost cutting edge software and also have super stable releases with a planned upgrade cycle for corporate environments on the desktop and server.

It is a good thing, just a shame the LTS versions are so far between. Having security updates for longer is great, I wish Fedora did the same, but also, having the latest software versions is a must too.

Not for commercial environments it's not, there stability is more important. If the software works, you don't want to spend time updating and reconfiguring all your computers every few months. You just want a working system that keeps working and stays secure.

Yes and no, when people complain that their site doesn't work with the older version of Firefox it could be a pain.

If it's a site you need to use for business, complain to the site owners. Otherwise, slap the user's wrists 
Stability is far more important than pandering to the browsing habits of employees.

There are certain web meeting sites that don't work in Firefox 2.X I forget which, but its something I ran into once.

I learned about these things long ago in the car world.
You should never buy the Mark 1, nor for that matter the Mark 2, because by the time the Mark 2 is announced they have not got all the Mark 1's longer term problems sorted out, although they have stopped the way the Mark1s drop to bits in a very progressive manner.
The Mark3 is the one to buy because they have by then sorted things out and the Mark 4 will be a "cost reduced" Mark 3 "with added marketing".

You're right. Although I did have a 2.3l Auto Mk 4 Cortina Ghia, followed by a Cavalier CD Auto.Hatchback. Both were company cars and never was there a greater difference in build quality.
The Cortina was built in "der Vaterland" as were all the Ghias, und es war sehr gut, and the Cavalier was built, "well thrown together", behind a brick privey somewhere in Luton.
I was sorry to have to hand the Ford in at the end of its alloted two year span, but I could not wait for the Cavalier to fall to pieces around me, which I always thought would be it's ultimate end. It didn't...sadly, and so I suffered it for two years.

AFAIK the Mk1 MK2 and MK3 Cortinas were entirely different cars but the MK4 was a facelift MK3.
The MK2 Escort was a facelift Mk1, the MK3 was a new car but MKs 4 to 6 were reworked MK3s
BTW, its absolutely fine if the "Car in front is a Toyota". You only need to worry if its behind you.
