I'm not sure that this is actually hardware question, but please forgive me if I'm in the wrong place.
I have dell vostro 1700 running mint8 live cd installed to usb key. It (usb key) is mounted as cd. Laptop has flash card reader witch takes both (sony) memory stick and SD cards. But system won't read (or shall I put won't recognise) 512Mb Memory Stick PRO (MS) from my sony Cyber-Shot camera. As if it's not there. However, when I put 2Gb SD Ultra2 card, it instantly mounts and shows on desktop. And obviously I am able to brows it. I use later for my Nikon camera.
I am puzzled here. If one can be read, why not other? I would eliminate laptop reader's fault for this very reason. More over, it (MS) works fine under Windows and in camera. It is unlocked if that makes any difference. By "lock" I mean hard switch on card it self to prevent data deletion.
I guess, that FS on both cards should be FAT? The fact, that I am running Live Mint shouldn't cause any problems either?
P.S. Here is output from dmesg | tail -n30
