In the interests of Science [1], I suggest we do a Clockwork Orange experiment
We'll tie you to a chair, wire up some sensors to your brain and measure your fear and pain responses whilst you think about it
Then we'll pin your eyelids open and do the same whilst you actually listen to some
My hypothesis is that you'll be more fearful as the time to listen to it approaches and that you'll be in more pain whilst listening to it than merely thinking about it
---
[1] Okay ... In the interests of anally retentive, nerdish egotism, actually - I know I can prove I'm right _________________ Oontz <-- Click Here |

Actually, you can't - because the only person that knows what I was thinking when I wrote that is me. You are only working with a flawed, subjective interpretation _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

That's easily factored out
What we do is show you images of stuff, whilst measuring your brain activity
After a while, we introduce subliminals - His/Her name and/or some just-below-the-categorical-threshold audio snippets of his/her voice
We observe the difference in brain behaviour and subtract it from the 'normal' brain behaviour
Then we know what your response is to only those stimuli and can correlate the pain/fear responses

I can't help wondering how you would be able to recognise normal brain behaviour _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

You will notice, Nelz, that ... since we are discussing your brain here ... I put the word in inverted commas
However, on a more serious note, when it comes to an individual's neural [1] activity pattern, normal is what is normal for them
So, it's safe to take your everyday brain behaviour as the baseline for these purposes - Even though your normal brain activity would not be described as 'normal' for any other reasons
Right ... though this has been fun, you may have noticed that I was particularly cutting in my responses to Towy earlier [2] and, whilst this post is, admittedly, in the Off Topic forum that's not because I don't consider it a serious issue, but because there is no other appropriate forum for it on the LXF site
So, my obsession with Psychology [3] ... and the enjoyment I get from bantering with people here (You, Towy and Rakhios in particular) ... notwithstanding, I'd really prefer to keep things on track, if you don't mind, and am not going to pursue this particular thread any further
I raised the issue ... and gave the reasons - It's up to everyone else to decide whether they wish to vote for it, for the reasons given ... or not
I really have to get on now and see about keeping a roof over my head and food in the cupboards - The former not being a certainty at this particular juncture ... and the latter being an academic fantasy, since they've been literally empty of anything but tea, milk, rice, bread and herbs/spices for the last three months ... (all that's left now is about eight tea-bags, a couple of pints of milk and the herbs/spices) ... and, right now, as far as I can determine, the only light I'm likely to see at the end of the tunnel ... (if I ever get that far) ... will be from the oncoming express train that puts me out of my misery
It's been fun, but, I'll have to catch up with you all later
---
[1] I would have said neurological, but ... again, since we are discussing your brain ... I hesitate to use any word containing an element that implies it might, in any way, be logical
[2] I'm just not in the mood today, I'm afraid, and it's only because I'm slightly less stressed right now that I didn't jump down your throat too
I'm not on the forums much these days ... (just too busy trying to get from Penury to somewhere a bit closer to civilisation, without having to sell my soul in order to buy the ticket) ... and am less inclined to engage in juvenile 'name-calling', even when it's not ill-intended
[3] Which is why, along with my BSc in Computer Science, I studied for a BSc in Psychology (specialising in Neuropsychology) _________________ Oontz <-- Click Here |

We could call it "Dance on Ice well or you'll get shot!"
That'd cull the herd of lame celeb-wannabes. |
i feel you my brother or how about shooting stars on ice?? where you would win a certain prize for where you hit, like a new car for a head shot

Just shooting 1sf (troll) on ice would probably be more appealing to LXF Forum members |

You're supposed to pick them up, not hit them.
Perhaps nelz noticed the blood smears on the floor from where your knuckles drag on the ground. _________________ Bye, Rhakios |
