I get a Lenovo W701 last spring. This is a 17" laptop with 320 GB hd and 2GB RAM with possibility to expand to 16GB. I expand it to 8GB.
I also get an additional 500GB hd. I also get a dock.
I run Mandriva Linux 2010.2. I kept th Win7 on a 70GB partition, just because I need it for my membership in SeniorNet.
I also have installed VMware 7.1 and use it to test a lot of other OS, mainly different Linux OS.
For me it has been a good replacement for a PC/server.
The laptop is a litle bit heavy but it is possible to carry.
Here is a link to W701:

| You could get an Acer and wipe Windows but first copy the Acer documentation onto a CD or Flash drive. |

I think I remember reading about (and visiting the sited for) somebody selling laptops which don't have their original packaging intact - might have been Acer.
A google search might throw something up - but I always seem to get the parameters wrong. _________________ Derek |

Try this site for acer laptops and netbooks. Never used it, but it looks good to me and the prices are really good.

Yes - that was the one.
Thanks for locating it - I thought it looked good at the time, but had already bought my netbook when I saw it. _________________ Derek |
