| Just a thought, instead of sudo, have you tried it as root? |

Would try that but ubuntu/kubuntu only provide root access via sudo, am at the moment having a go at installing debian sarge cos I do want to have more control. I have always wanted a Debian install for philosophical reasons but was put off by having a nasty installer but I realise now that ubuntu uses the sarge installer!
Maybe next week when I have time I will finally bite the bullet and have a go at <quiver>Gentoo</quiver>

| If you want to avoid the pain of a Debian install, you might like to try Kanotix. Nice easy installer and you can see if you can get the printer up from the live CD. |
