hi, i,ve already got a 915gav motherboard from intel and ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 are the only distros that work on it, without tinkering .
tried ubuntu 7.04,7.10,9.04,9.10 same problem with intel graphics chipset 915
as i,m going to buy a new motherboard was wondering what the best chipset would be
Motherboard who has G33/G41/G43/G45/P43/P45/Q43/Q45 chipset
and which ones to avoid
going for onboard vga and budget build or cheap as chips build? |

Nvidia chipsets are usually fine with Linux, and some offer great onboard video.
I have 3 AMD based motherboards with Nvidia chipsets, and have had very few problems running Ubuntu or Opensuse.
I also have an Atom mini-itx PC running Opensuse on an intel GMA950 chipset, and an atom netbook running Ubuntu 9.10 on the same chipset. _________________ The sig between the asterisks is so cool that only REALLY COOL people can even see it!
