So what, I never received Pigeon mail when I was a kid, I'm pretty sure that would be something to miss out on too.

Aside from the thank you letters I was made to write after Christmas and birthdays, I don't recall writing many letters as a child myself... unless you count the odd sick note to the school Smile

A likely reason for this is because children don't have bank accounts, owe debts, have their own insurance or bills to pay Rolling Eyes

I went to boarding school and had to write home at least once a week, mostly begging them to take me home Rolling Eyes

It does say 'handwritten;' so it's up to all you uncles and aunts, grandpas and grandmas to turn off your computers and send all your nieces and nephews and grandchildren a handwritten one.

I never received a bard, semaphore, Morse, parchment or a stone tablet. I just feel sorry for the 80% of kids being pressured to stop texting for a moment and handwrite replies - I mean, have you ever tried holding a pen with your thumbs?
This is one 2nd Millennium habit I'm happy to see die out.
That'll save a few dead trees, too.

My 5 year old got his first letter from a debt collecting agency.

As a kid I made my own freepost envelope, with the big number 2 and the two black bars. Sent something and it got to the destination! I can't remember if I put an actual code on there, thereby charging the post to a company, but it was pretty cool nevertheless.

I had a program published in Amstrad Action years ago (ps when is Future going to reserect AA?), with my address in it. I received letters from all over the world! Largely with requests to put the program on tape, due to the 8000+ lines of code. Very Happy

Gone are the days of pens and pencils. Nowadays I just email and SMS or simply chat online. Times they are a changing!
