Hi there, I have dug out my Sams C++ text book. I have one problem the supplied ide is for windows and is also woefully out of date.
Could someone please suggest an C++ ide for linux? I was thinking kdevelop, which leads me to my next thought, could it be free and open source?

Eclipse, Qt4, Monodevelop (For Console Apps), KDevelop all free and open.
Depending on your distro they could already be in the repos. _________________

That sounds like a request in terms of generics to me, so --- when it comes to a very smooth, generic, gui designer ... the FLTKs' fluid designer would be worth looking at.

My favourite, of course. And yes, i am biased (grin).
note: The configuration method is via a 'project(s)', which also serves as a useage tutorial.
