Hi brethren...

Well got my new LXF and just tried PCLinuxOS 2010.12
hoping to upgrade from the 2009 version BUT......

......Oh dear, when a ballon appears it doesn`t clear correctly
after the pointer moves off of the item that generates it.

Scratch one upgrade.

To fully clear any balloon from the deaktop you have to left
click on a blank part of the desktop and it fully goes away.

So much for comprehensive testing...

I seem to be the only one who finds strange HW/SW bugs.
Maybe it`s my HW banging coming to the fore...

This is just one reason why I haven`t deviated from
PCLinuxOS 2009 and why I still run XP on this Notebook.

Oh dear Lubuntu 10.10 also has a bug...

Chrome auto highlights everything when you use the vertical
slider to scroll through a webpage LXF in this case - not good. :/

Boy oh boy, I rarely bother with the DVDs but I am a
PCLinuxOS dunce and wanted to see if there was any point
in upgrading, alas NO!

The only LIVE distro that seemed to work "as expected" was
Crunchbang Statler; pity there are no DEV tools to whet my
appetite...

Oh well can`t win `em all...

What do you mean by the vertical slider? If it is the scroll bar, you must have a problem which is not the same on my laptop, an old Acer Travelmate 2200, with celeron cpu, 512 MB ram and ATI 9000Mobile graphics card. The Lubuntu on the 142 disk works perfectly on that machine, so I fear it is likely to be your hardware.

I also think that the PCLinuxOS 2010.12 problem is probably related to the graphics card. That also runs OK on my machine, though I am lost in KDE these days so have no idea how to use it properly any more, and normally use gnome.

I can get both Lubuntu and Crunchbang to work in VirtualBox, thanks Mike for the latest version, but PCLinuxOS just does not work at all Sad

Hi ajgreeny...

Yep the scroll bar, is there a difference?

"so I fear it is likely to be your hardware."

Hmmm, maybe, but I think I would probably be aware of any
problems, but then, maybe not...

Mine is a dual core HP Pavilion dv2036ea machine, 1GB
memory and the usual built-in add-on junk...

PCLinuxOS 2009 is faultless. I haven`t found or been able
to force a bug yet, on either my dual core 2GB HP Pavilion
laptop, my notebook above and my Acre Aspire One netbook.

Crunchbang Statler seemed to work perfectly however even
with the minimalist approach - which I like.
