|
|
With the announcement that Microparp have bought Skype I am looking for an alternative.
I have never really liked Skype (proprietary closed source, yeuch) but a number of friends using that other OS use it and it has been handy keeping in touch across continents but now I would like another cross-platform alternative, any ideas?? _________________ still looking for that door into summer |

You trust MS even less than the self-confessed pirates that created Skype?
If you stick to standard SIP, which is a proper, open standard, you can use just about any client you like, on just about any platform. There are plenty of providers of SIP services, I use sipgate.co.uk, free to any other SIP user and very reasonable for calls to POTS lines. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. Very wise. How long before "another" becomes "a"? _________________ Cheers,

Haven't used it, but this client looks nice.
Supports "Voice and video call using SIP, XMPP and Google Talk." apparently. _________________ I codes here: http://notsure.tk |
