Hi all,

I just installed Mint 12 off the cover DVD but noticed my menu bar
is not transparent like most screen shots I have seen.

Is this a custom burn of Mint that Linux Format made?

Just not sure why mine is different?

No. The only customisation was to enable it to multi-boot with other distros on the DVD, which doesn't affect either the live or installed environments.

Might depend on your hardware. If hardware acceleration is not available then often some of the fancier effects are disabled. Even older Nvidia cards with hardware acceleration can suffer from this problem.
