|

Hello
Can anyone tell me how to correctly install and configure Xvesa or Xfbdev on Debian squeeze? I have an old laptop (following on from this post) which can't run Xorg. I managed to run puppy linux as it allows the choice of xvesa on startup so I know it works with this computer.
I've installed the xserver-xfbdev package but have been unable configure it with xdm and I can't find any definitive guides on how to do so. xvesa doesn't exist as a package?
I'm also a bit confused regarding lighter weight options for X - ie xvesa, xfbdev, Kdrive, smallX, tinyX etc - some of which seem to be the same thing or not...
any help would be greatly appreciated |

| I've given up on debian and installed Wary Puppy, which seems to work fine; which is a shame because I wanted access to debian's repositories |
