Hi all.

I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.10 and I think I'm going to install 12.04 when it comes out
on the LXF DVD.

However, it looks like I'll run out of support whilst I'm waiting for the LXF version.

My main question is -
If I wait for the LXF DVD and the support runs out for 10.10
am I going to run into any security problems ?

Would you run an older distro with no support until you install the new version
(could be a few weeks to a month or more, depends really)

TIA for any help or advice.

That would depend on how, or who, was using the system. A month or two for a low level user who visits the same sites day in, day out and does a bit of e-mailing wouldn't bother me too much. But for a user who likes to explore and does much business on-line, I'd want to keep things as up to date as possible.

Cheers Rhakios.
I thought as much, but I always appreciate a 2nd opinion.

I do most of what you mentioned, however I do often buy stuff online and I'm
kinda paranoid about security.

So I think I might install 11.10 for all of a week to a month. Just to be safe.

Being Ubuntu, you should be able to run the upgrade to 12.04, so at least you won't have to reinstall.
