|
|
I was just thinking, I have every copy of LXF from No 1. They occupy several A4 printer paper cartons.
12 (?) years ago I was in W H Smiths at Paddington station looking for a computer mag to read on the train back to Bristol. Another guy was also looking at them and said to me "They are all the same, aren't they?". I replied : "What I'd really like is one on Linux". He pointed, and there was Linux Format! I bought it, and only on the train did I realise it was the first issue.
I understand that there was some sort of pilot issue a month earlier, perhaps called LXF 0 (to show respect to RMS?). I would like to have a copy of that. _________________ Unsolved Mysteries of the Universe No 8 :-

It was called "Linux Answers" and edited by Nick Merritt and it came with Redhat 6.
I have every copy of the mag including that "Premiere Issue" and the disks from CDs to DVDs, I know, sad ain't it _________________ still looking for that door into summer |

If misery loves company, then hello, Towy
I think the zeroeth issue is likely to be a prized possession of anyone who has kept it for so long. Still, if the price is right, I'm sure someone would be mercenary enough to part with a copy (wish I'd bought two or more now ). _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

I put up a shelf specially for the mags, it has a bit of a bend in it now
The disks first fitted in a drawer but they have had to have a shelf built too _________________ still looking for that door into summer |

I started at 100, but some of the older ones went in a clear out a year or so back. Same with the older discs. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

My earliest ones are 32+33, then a long hiatus into the late 50's and from 60 onward. Still have all the disks Somewhere |

I started with Linux answers then Issue 2 of linux format.. (issue 1 sold out very quickly here, I.e. noticed it was in WHS.. went to bank to get money.. got back to WHS all sold out)
kept buying it till around issue 70 and took a few years off. then kept nipping back in.. been back with LXF for the past few years now.. _________________ Don't Dream it....Be it.. |

I have LXF 1 to about 120 I think. Then there is a gap where I did not subscribe and now I've been subscribing for 2-3 years back.
I was very pleased to find Linux Format since I was a fan of ST Format and Amiga Format back in the days. |
