Forgive me, I am a bit behind the times.
I am still reading LXF161 and in reply to Mailserver article ¨Speed limit¨ Graham answers put the relevant DVD in the slot and type ¨sudo update-manager -d¨
Can it really be so simple to update my Mint 12 to Mint 13?
I assume that it would keep my existing default settings - or am I being a bit naive?
I would backup first, of course.
Any advice would be most appreciated.

Sorry for the delay, I have had probs this end.
First make a backup.
Then insert the LXF disk and open terminal with instructions:

command not found was the steely response.
I tried every way I could think of (inc path to dvd), nada.
It lies like a hairy leg...
OK, plan B - install from dvd.
It offered me the opp to dual-boot from old and/or new soft.
I have a 200 GB HDD and me /home is only 700 MB, so I chose that.
It rejected me user/pass and after a few secs installed anyway.
Mint 12 stet, Mint 13 new partition.
It said /David from 12 copied to 13. It lied like a hairy leg, again...
Booted into Mint 13 and no 3D acceleration.
Tried to get Nvidia 173 et al to install, but no chance from any choices, so I looked at Accounts User David. Says Supervisor, but does not say what my limits are. I tried again and got a flashing msg
¨Unable to unlock, No authority¨
I feel a glass of wine coming on....
Any offers of help will be much respected.

Sure that's what I've used in the past for Ubuntu.

Many thanx for your input RAM. My original post contained the correct spelling, my second post contained a misspelling, as I was tired. Sorry.
After an overnight break I obtained the same result and did a clean install of Mint 13 from the LXF DVD - for which I thank the team.
I am now freshly Mintified.

Sadly the nightmare continues. Following a clean install from the LXF DVD I spent the weekend setting up Mint 13. Almost finished sorting out my contents and settings but when I logged on yesterday I got the usual black screen and the message ¨Ubuntu 12.04 and ....broken pipe¨ and then the usual Mint login screen after which the screen went cobalt blue and logged me into something like Cinnamon, but was not right. I could work with it so I carried on.
This morn I got the purple Ubuntu screen and the messages Ubuntu 12.04, then the usual grey Mint login followed by the cobalt screen and what looks to be a Mint setup.
I have tried to alter the Cinnamon background from the tools menu, but although I can see and select the Mint screen it will not allow me to move there.
Any ideas, please?
