If you're just trying to connect xp to Mandrake, the problem AFAIK is that they speak different protocols. What you need is to run Samba on the Mandrake system to make it look like a windows box to xp. Then you set the Mandrake machine up as just another XP system.

Hi,
I've managed to share a document on th xp unit but it's only happened once. I'm also getting this message now>
\\Local host is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network Go to system in the control panel to change computer name and try again.
Any suggestions
Cheers
