When you buy an Raspberry Pi (model B for example), what extras do you need or might come in handy?
* case (different for model A and B?)
* power adaptor (or can one use the one for iPod with micro USB cable?)
* WLAN-stick
* SDHC memory card
* HDMI -> DVI adaptor

* case (different for model A and B?) depends on your desire (I use a VESA plate to screw to monitor)
* power adaptor (or can one use the one for iPod with micro USB cable?) - yes, but there are a variety of these which also work (I use a Kindle power lead)
* WLAN-stick - handy if no ethernet
* SDHC memory card - for OS
* HDMI -> DVI adaptor - depends on what your monitor needs
Some sources offer starter packages with bits bundled in - eg cpc.co.uk a search will throw some up _________________ Derek |

What you (I) need:
- pi
- USB Keyboard
- USB mouse
- SD card - read pi wiki, not all work, especially cheap brandless one
- USB micro charger - ipod may work, check voltage and current
Extras you may or may not find helpful
- USB wifi / network cable (if you have a pi B)
- USB powered hub - plug in more usb stuff, hdd, etc
- Some sort of break out board for GPIO pins if you want to play with them - from a simple DIY to pi cobbler to gertboard
- Battery pack - if you don't have a mains point near by!
- Assorted electrical components - eg wire, resistors, LEDs, etc
- Case - make your own or buy one or don't use one. I have 1 in a case and one not in a case. Just be careful who can stick their fingers/toes/paws in/on it
really its just what you want to do with it!
http://www.raspberrypi.org/quick-start-guide is a good place to start
http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/bespoke/bespoke7.jsp?bespokepage=farnell/en_UK/promotions/rasp-pi-accessories.jsp has a pretty diagram _________________ For certain you have to be lost to find the places that can't be found. Elseways, everyone would know where it was |
