|
|
| I have been using LinuxMint 12, KDE version, for some time and I now have a row of small, yellow, blank "post-its" which have gradually accumulated across the bottom of my screen. I do not know how they got there and I can find no way of removing them. Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of them? |

Move the mouse over them so the bar thingy pops out of one side, then hit the close button at the bottom of the bar.
As for how they go there, I get them when I inadvertently paste some text onto the desktop, because the X selection buffer contains text and I hit the middle mouse button. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

| Thanks for the suggestion Nelz but it doesn't work for my problem. Running the mouse over the little yellow squares does nothing, left click + drag is no good either nor is right click + drag. Middle click (mouse wheel) + drag superimposes the word "notelets" over the squares. I started to use that word in my original message but changed it to "Post-its". How and where "notelets" has been hiding since is another mystery! |

That sounds like something different from KNotes, can you post a screenshot? _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

| I would if I could but, after looking at the FAQs for this forum, I do not know of a "publicly accessible web server" where I can put the image. Can you suggest one please? |

| Photobucket is refusing to connect for me to sign up. I'll keep trying and get back to you. |

It was the same for me earlier today, but it is working now, just after 20:08hrs. Presumably their server was too busy, or had just gone down earlier. _________________ Ubuntu 10.04 user, and loving it! |

| I have just tried again and was able to sign in this time. I have uploaded a screen-shot to my Photobucket library. Now how do I get it into this post? |

| Thanks for your patience with this rather trivial thing. It's more of an irritation to me than a problem. However, it does seem to me that it is easy to put widgets in the panel or elsewhere on the desktop in this version of MInt but there there's no obvious way of removing them. Perhaps resolving this issue might be useful in a wider context? |

| Not having had any further posts I wonder if my last message has been misinterpreted. I was not signing off on this thread, merely expressing thanks so far and hoping to encourage further assistance. I still need some help in getting an image on to this forum so that we can carry on where we left off. |

| Are your widgets unlocked? That may be the cause. When mousing over something when widgets are unlocked, a bar appears on the right hand side as described by nelz. |

I am glad to see this thread taken up again. Thanks Bruno.
I have tried running the mouse over them when they are both locked or unlocked. There is no effect in either case. |

Paste the URL. (I think using " and " either side will work here...? |

Here's the screen shot. The yellow blob on the left of the offending squares is the sun shining in the weather icon.
