Hi all,
I am wondering what, in your opinion, is the best brand of HD to go for in a laptop. I ask this as my 'ex-current' hard drive (the _second_ WD in a month (!)) has failed and I wanted to know which brands are the most reliable in your collective opinion.

I have not had any trouble with either Seagate or Samsung drives (yet), but this sort of thing often depends more on the particular model than the brand. _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

| I've had good success with all Samsung drives, both 2.5" laptop and 3.5" standard hard drives. |

I use WD on my laptop and desktop, (at least 10),
never had a problem.

| I've had a few Seagate drives die on me. Now I tend to go with WD Caviar Black drives. |

I've had no end of trouble with Seagate drives. I tend to buy Samsung drives (both 3.5" and 2.5") as they're usually cheaper than their Western Digital equivalents.
On the SSD front (if you may think about that route) I avoid OCZ like the plague as myself and my friends have had their drives die very quickly and randomly in the past... I'm also somewhat cautious about drives using a Sandforce controller, so I tend to stick with Crucial or Intel. |
