I have an Aspire 5315 laptop, running Ubuntu for several releases, using only hibernate to shutdown.
I now have 12.04 LTS, but hibernate fails with "not enough swap". It has been set at 1.5Gb (for 1Gb of real memory), ever since I started with Unbuntu.
I changed swap to 6Gb, and guess what ? Same message, still no Hibernate.
Can anyone recommend a Linux version that can hibernate and perform tolerably on an old laptop ?
(For Canonical to hide the hibernate option in 12.04 "because it quite often does not work correctly" seems a bit rich. I've been perfectly happy for several releases....)
