I have a ThinkPad T60 amd am using mepis 12.

Using kde partitionmanager to add a new partition
caused pm to give error message:

The laptop is working normally, sfdisk -l shows
all my pertitions, cfdisk works etc..

Disk /dev/sda: 60801 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors/track

I checked windows XP and every thjing is normal.

Everything is fine except can't use pm or gparted

Your machine probably doesn't use an MSDOS partition table, but GPT instead.... And if it's working, don't mess with it!

Windows does not support GPT on the first hard drive and the layout with the fourth partition as an extended partition is pure MSDOS.

So try parted or gparted and if that fails System Rescue.
