Thanks for clarifying. So, I'm not familiar with Puppy Linux, but I did find this thread

on the topic of a auto-mounting. It mentions usb devices, but cdrom/dvd drives as well.

Can you mount devices manually?

AFAIR Puppy runs as root so you nly need to open a terminal and run
Code:
mkdir -p /mnt/cdrom
mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom


and the contents will appear in /mnt/cdrom. If this works, the problem is with the automounter, not the drive.
