How can I copy a playstation one game?

Postby AgeGap1 » Wed Jun 19, 2013 8:54 am

I have got PCSX in order to play PSone games on my computer.
I have tried to copy the disc so I no longer need to insert it when I play games.

I have tried to copy it using brassero.

Installing packages by files is not supported

This method hasn't yet been implemented

All required applications and libraries are not installed
Please install the following manually and try again:
toc2cue (application).
cdrdao (application).

I am using Mint 15 and have looked to see if these are in Synaptic Package Manager. I have tried to google the answer and also had a search in these forums. Lots of similar stuff but not easy enough for me to understand. Although I have used Linux for a while I only do basic stuff like browsing.

Linux is not the way for circumventing legal copyright protection, as implemented by the manufacturer. We do not condone cracking of measures taken by a manufacturer to protect its intellectual property and will not offer support to do so. Your question can be quite valid and the reason honourable, but due to legal implications, any assistance given will be removed.

I recommend locking the topic for that reason.

I do not intend to steal anyone’s property. If I wanted an illegal copy I would torrent it or get it from the many hosting sites. What I want to do is make a back up. I have plenty of PS1 disks. I can not see the difference between making a back up and putting songs from a CD onto an MP3 player. PCSX, the play-station emulator that is in the Mint repositories has the ability to play games from data held on the computer. This is all I want to do.

Your intentions are not in doubt. The thread, however, could get the site owners into trouble if they give instructions on how to bypass the copy protection on a game.

Fair point. I did not honestly think that the reason that brassero would not copy the files was because of copy protection. I thought that brassero needed a little shove outlined above. I have a big box of PS1 disks that I wanted to back up as well as an original unchipped PS1.

I have the same. Perhaps, like me, a £10 layout for a PS1 might help!

I have a working PS1 and PS2 but why play games on a bigger screen without the intermittent game freezes when you can play on an emulator?
I have found out how to rip discs with brassero but now that I am able to I cant be bothered.
sudo apt-get something another_thing

I need to become a proper Linux user.
