Linux onto old Windows XP issue

Postby foggbloke » Tue May 20, 2014 8:29 am

Hi
all totally new to this - but trying to add Linux Mint 32 bit to an old XP machine.
LXF184 was my starting point.
I have partitioned the hard drive and installed Mint but now the PC re-boots into XP straight away....
Should I have used the Mint Compatibility version? or is there some setting I've missed..???
any help would be great

thanks
Paul

Did the Mint installer ask where you wanted to install the bootloader? you should install it to the MBR of your first disk, not to the Linux partition.
