Hiyall,
Just seen, for the first time, a self-destructing CDrom!
A Brand new Windows XP SP2 OEM CD exploded into fragments, trashing the CDWriter it was being installed from!
Is this a new sinister way of ensuring that you only install it once?
Or does it only happen when it detects Linux?
I have heard of this before, but never believed it until now.
Maybe this will spread to Linux, and we will have downloadable playonce ISOs _________________ The sig between the asterisks is so cool that only REALLY COOL people can even see it!

I also know soemone who had a CD explode in a drive, wrecking i t totally.
I think it was a game CD of some sort but don't know what.
My impression is that this can happen if the CD has been stressed a lot around the hole. Be careful when removing CDs from their cases! |

Please, can we try to maintain some standards when posting here. There's no need for what you just posted MartyBartfast...

I think it is more likely if the hole is offcentre, this was a brand new CD, only used once. _________________ The sig between the asterisks is so cool that only REALLY COOL people can even see it!
