So, pretty much as nelz suggested, the Rose Tyler in the Cyberman universe: a dog!

If it is going to be OEM only this will be good for Linux I dought many people will start buying pre built pcs just so they can use Vista.
I dread the pricing but ill stick with my SUSE thanks
Hopefully if I fancy the odd gaming session I will still be able to boot into xp and have the ability to play the modern games |

Hah! that is a pretty big hope look at what XP did to a lot of the games designed to run on older systems, then look at what SP2 did to a lot of applications designed to run on SP1. It wouldn't surprise me if something similar or more extreme happens with Vista. They should have stuck with Microsoft Bob, now that is an OS for people with a sense of humour _________________ Need a New Signature |

I don't know, I can't tell. Bash on the dots? Bash him on the embarrassed?
You can use your priest, just don't bash him with your bishop _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

Beware!
This is probable a good thing for the future of Windows.
I think they should have changed 100% of their code years ago. Then they wouldn´t have to do the patchwork they struggle with today.
They also would have far less trouble with spyware, viruses and such because they could build an os that is designed to be networked not patched to.
(any competition comes to mind?)
But as mentioned by someone else, they´re run by suits.
And by then they probably said that they could make more money by patching than by rewriting.
As of today the expences and possibly the need to rewrite is much higher.
Anything good about M$?
Yes, their Mouses (have no experience with joystick or keyboard). |

Howdy Blåtann,

Thats a good point actually ...
I suspect part of the MS strategy is to observe what "works" in oss, in terms what people perceive to be desirable ... and then try to implement it within their own concept space. And also try to sell the "idea" as being a MS innovationl. Umm, funny how they like to think, or rather suggest, that an "administrative mode" is one of their great ideas . Were would they be if it wasn't for BSD in the first place. Now there's a licence that has a flaw some where i think.

I know i don't have to , but i'll mention it anyway in case any viewers don't know this ... MS didn't actually invent the mices either (grin).

BSD??
Apple has a system that uses FreeBSD as a reference but M$?!
But you´ve gotta give it to them, they did invent "Clippy"
This is only one (eh.. the only one) of the great ideas you can enjoy when using Genuine Advantage. |
