I searched the forums for advice on adsl modems and see that teh overwhelming response is to get an adsl router and be done with it. but I'm a tight fisted b***** atm, so, with that in mind, any advice on where i can find a good page on making a modem based on the conexant accessrunner chip work on suse 10.0?
I know there is a driver, but the page hasn't been updated for over a year, and there seems (from the little I've read so far) to have been some sort of change between kernels 2.6.9/2.6.10and upwards meaning that things work differently.
I'm currently using an old p2 333mhz running w2k to act as the router/gateway for the house, connecting to my current isp, as the modem they provided me with had no drivers for linux at the time (does now). My new isp sent a free modem, too, based on a different chipset. would like to set up a linux box as the gateway/firewall.
/end pointless rambling mode. |
