Curiously for me when I first registered on LXF, I was told that my email address had been used before - identity theft in other words. What I have never seen spelt out in any magazine is how to resolve that. I can only assume it means changing your whole email account - did have problems emailing some friends as well because of spam filtering software, so am convinced that I have been personally hijacked in some way or other. If anyone has personal experience would be glad to hear how to combat it. (sorry I was on windoze at the time-hoping to remedy that soon).

Not necessarily the case (with the Spam) what is hte last bit of your email address? i.e. the domain name. If it is something unusual then some Mail servers will mark you as spam, its kind of a reaction to 10000 viagra emails from agkjjlk@kjfdgsa.khk
Interesting that LXF said you had iused it before, wouldn't have registered and forgotten I suppose? best bet check through all your sent and received mail, and do a google search for your email address. That way and mailing list archives you (or someone pretending to be you) have used will be shown, you might also get lucky and find the profile of the person who used your email address for LXF. (Though it seems an odd use of nicking someones email address)

Not necessarily ID theft. Consider that someone else in the past might have used the same name as you on the same mail system, and have since deleted their account. This happened when I registered my daughter on NTLworld, and instantly (within an hour or so) started getting SPAM for her. A quick Google revealed that there had been an NTLworld punter a couple of years ago with the same name, who had obviously got on some SPAM lists, adding a middle initial to her address sorted it out.

I have decided it is impossable to hold a email account with it getting loaded with spam even if you dont give it out. They just have ways

Apparently, there are ways of mail bombing networks.
For example I regularly get emails addressed to something like hamrdfert@(my network).co.uk
when my email address is hammer2@etc
