|
|
I switched from SuSE to Fedora Core 3 as I simply got fed up of how restrictive it is to download and install versions of SuSE.
FC3 seems very nice, but I'd like to be able to schedule automatic updates during my unmetered period on my ADSL.
Can this be done with up2date? I understand that Yum and apt will completely upgrade rather than patch apps, whereas up2date just patches.
Sorry to be a noob...
Thanks

| Avoid up2date which is a very buggy application in my experience! I've never seen it perform a big update - more than 20 packages!!! On the contrary yum and apt work fine. Prefer apt if you want a GUI - ie. synaptic. The Fedora synaptic doesn't run on 64 bits yet if you're concerned, as it works great - and much faster - on Debian based distribs like Ubuntu... Yum checks repositories each time it runs and is a little bit boring to me. |
