Birdman, I may have been a little missleading. The ck patch means you don't have to enable highmem support, ie for 4GB ram, it doesn't cause a performance hit and doesn't expand the kernal by a lot. BUT you do have to select the 1GB ram (lowmem) option, the option simply expands the limit of lowmem.
