I'm trying to install my belkin f8t012 belkin bluetooth adapter.
I've installed bluez packages, enabled bluetooth in yast but gnome-bluetooth-manager just pops up error box 'no device found on system'.
hcitool dev returns nothing
in usb view, device is listed
Is anyone using this device successfully?
I found this
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/422425
but I don't know what it means. Will I have to patch the kernel to get this device working?
Distro suse 10.1
The dongle uses EDR protocall. Is this the problem? |

I have a Belkin f8txxx where xxx is unreadable (by me) because the type is so small bit it's the Class 1 model. It "just works", being recognised as a Bluetooth USB device and loading the hci_usb module. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

Class 1/2 refers to the range, 100m and 10m respectively. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

Got it.
After swapping dongle for a cable and wireless mini:
Stupid! I'd made /etc/init.d/bluetooth un-executable a few weeks ago while trying to slim suse down. |
