I have noticed that the most ever users on the forums (97) was on this date. Wikipedia gives me no real clue as to why this should be so 
Any ideas, anyone?

Well, phpBB has had well-publicised problems over time. I'm guessing most of the 'users' were bots looking to exploit older vulnerable versions.
Of course, I'm sure this board had already been patched by that stage..... |
