Do you mean Steam as in the game thing, or Steam as in the environment for cooperative knowledge management? I only see the latter in Ubuntu. And this may be better off in the Help forum.

| Does HL2 install from the disc or are you being ironic. I'd have thought a trip to the wonderful world of WINE would be needed to get Steam working. It can run both the original and the more modern Source engine IIRC. |

If your running a server you don't need Steam, if it's to play HL2 / CSS then you'll either have to run it in wine or cedega. http://www.transgaming.com _________________

Steam works fine with wine, download the installer from www.steampowered.com and wine it. Install it anywhere on your c disk you want. You'll need msttcorefonts, or at least tahoma.ttf to get the text working right. Once installes it should work well, except that you can not minimize it without crashing your X. Games that work with me on steam:
Half-Life 2
Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 2 Deathmatch
Half-Life: Source
Half-Life: Source Deathmatch
Garry's mod 10 (V9 won't work)
There's a wonderfull how-to on linux-gamers.net, though i dont have the link right now. _________________ "Excuse me, is that a Microsoft product? Would you mind turning that off, I'm allergic to second-hand ignorance."
