Just to let everyone know, there's been an unofficially unofficial Linux Format IRC channel on Freenode for a few years now, and it's a good way to chat to other readers and get on-the-spot help. IRC is an instant chat system that's simple and open -- not plagued by pointless jazz.
To connect, install an IRC program such as X-Chat or Irssi, and connect to irc.freenode.net. The channel name is, you guessed it, #linuxformat. In a typical IRC client, you'd enter:
| Code: | /server irc.freenode.net
/nick mygreatnickname (whatever you like here, providing it's not already taken)
/join #linuxformat

Note: discussions are prone to going widly off topic, so don't be alarmed if you land in the middle of a debate comparing Foster's lager with glibc.
