When someone's hitting the site as blatantly as they are now, I think it's about time guest access posting (not viewing so everyone can still see how good the forum is) was banned. Sure you could argue that spammers are going to make fake accounts anyway, but the kind of thing that's happening at the moment looks like a bot has stumbled across the forum... the bogus posts don't even read like they are aware of the audience. Can we have one of those "type the characters you see here into the box for verification" features?
When the entire list of "Last forum posts" is swamped out by spam, it justifies a change. |

| Unfortunately, I agree with Lancer - it just makes you think twice about trying to help people. It takes too long to go through and work out which posts are valid - you just say **** it! and click "Mark All Posts Read". |

Yeah. The banlist is growing too big now, and in a lot of cases, it's clear that the spam is coming from '0wned' boxes -- so we don't want to block genuine users. An 'enter code' or similar system looks like the best solution -- it's on my TODO list

For some reason I read the title of this thread as "Ban gas excess" at first - and having had to put up with a flatulent co-worker, I couldn't agree more _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

Did you know flatulance (excuse spelling) is the lack of ability to expel intestinal gas and actually can cause severe stomach cramps and discomfort? Who needs Viagra when we have old LXF covers and gaffer tape!

This is why geeks have a low hit rate with their gender of choice:
Viagra and flatulence are not good working partners. _________________ Cheers,

Are you implying that you are responsible for all the spam nelz?

I wasn't referring to the spam, but then you knew that, didn't you? |

<insert innocent smiley> Why, whatever do you mean nelz?
In any event, the co-worker in question after letting loose a trump of doom laughs uproariously and yells "Corrr! Cop a load of that one!" So, I don't think there's too much doubt as to who is responsible, I'm surprised you can't hear it in Warrington. _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

It sounds like it may have been enough to affect your weather down there. I knew that a part of the Midlands was having serious problems with the wind, but hadn't realised it was quite so localised. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

He's going to that side of Birmingham on Monday, so stand by for more bad news. _________________ Bye, Rhakios |
