So I'm trying to install Gentoo, but I don't know what to do when I get to step 6c in the handbook. according to the handbook, i need to

# cd /usr/portage
# scripts/bootstrap.sh -f

& then,

# cd /usr/portage
# scripts/bootstrap.sh

Since I'm using the coverdisc, i need to copy files from the DVD (per instructions from the magazine).

What files do I copy and how do I do it?

I am installing this also. Next time I will make meticulous notes but for now all I have written down is:
#cd /usr/portage
# scripts/bootstrap.sh

I think when I typed that it took off and ran for hours, maybe all night.
The next thing I wrote down is :
#emerge -e system

Again it ran for hours, I think. I typed "emerge -e system" because when bootstrap was finished there was a message on the terminal that said to type that command so I followed that instead of some other command that I had seen. Everything seems to work well so far. I am emerging x11 right now and it has been running for maybe 3.5 hours.

You don't need to copy files from the DVD, see the paragraph at the end of page 115/beginning of page 116.
